EU-kommissionen i Sverige is the organiser of this seminar.

Following the first reports of cases of acute respiratory syndrome in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China at the end of December 2019, Chinese authorities have identified a novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as the main causative agent. The outbreak has rapidly evolved affecting other parts of China and outside the country.

Cases have also been detected in several countries in Asia, but also in Australia, Europe and North America. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) located in Solna is closely monitoring this outbreak and providing risk assessments to guide EU Member States and the EU Commission in their response activities. In Sweden, it is Folkhälsomyndigheten that is the responsible agency for the surveillance and control of the outbreak.

ECDC’s Director Andrea Ammon will explain the current rapidly evolving situation and what is being done at the European level. DG Johan Carlson from Folkhälsomyndigheten will explain what is the situation in Sweden.

The seminar is web-streamed on ourEU-kommissionen i Sveriges facebookpage
